Capital Region Arts Census Released

HARRISBURG (November 3, 2011) The Arts Impact Committee of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC recently completed work on the Capital Region Arts Census.

The Capital Region Arts Census is the first comprehensive survey of arts organizations in the Greater Harrisburg area in 15 years.  The goal of this ongoing project is to compile and maintain a comprehensive list of arts and cultural groups in the Harrisburg area and to then make it available and easily accessible for the whole community.

The census found nearly 100 arts organizations (both nonprofit and for profit) in the capital region.  The results are publicly available on the Chamber's website at www.HarrisburgRegionalChamber.org.  The census data is available in two formats - a one page listing of organizations designed as a marketing piece for the region and as a spreadsheet with full contact information for all of the organizations included.  Arts organizations not on the list that would like to be included may contact the Cultural Enrichment Fund, a co-sponsor of the project at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it to be added.  Updated contact information may also be sent to this address.

The Capital Region Arts Census is a project of the Arts Impact Committee of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC.  The committee was formed to assist the Chamber in its economic development efforts by working to raise the level of awareness regarding the local impact of the arts on economic development.  Specifically, the committee focuses on the role that the local arts community plays in workforce development through assisting with employee recruitment & retention, improving the quality of life in our region and attracting new businesses to our region.  The committee is coordinated in collaboration with the Cultural Enrichment Fund, the capital region's united arts fund.
