Position Available: VICE PRESIDENT, CHAMBER OPERATIONS
Job Summary
The Vice President is the staff executive for the Chamber Operations of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC, a regional umbrella organization for policy change, business growth and economic development covering Central Pennsylvania's Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry Counties. The Vice President is part of the senior management team of the organization and is responsible for creation, administration and implementation of programs, organizational structure, operational procedures, budgeting and financial performance, and support of membership services, membership growth and staffing.
Detail of Responsibilities
This is a position of considerable responsibility that requires the management of staff, preparation of budget and meeting budget expectations along with innovation and creativity. The position requires a combination of executive management and successful sales experience. Successful experience in a membership organization is a plus as well as demonstration of success in membership growth & retention, membership services, special events & programming, government relations, and marketing & communications.
Experience in managing, motivating, and leading staff and volunteers in the implementation of the programs and initiatives is required and a good understanding of the Harrisburg Region (Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry Counties) is helpful.
Experience in the development and successful oversight and implementation of the annual budgets, periodic reporting of progress toward goals and experience monitoring revenues/expenses is critical to the position.
Success in the ability to demonstrate a solid return on investment for stakeholders in the region and the organization in prior positions is helpful.
Good writing skills, public speaking and the ability to interact with business leaders, elected officials, media and community leaders are a required skill for this position
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate their ability to play a leadership role fund raising campaigns through grassroots community efforts and the participation of major contributors
The Chamber & CREDC is a small, agile and very active not for profit organization. The ability to multi-task, work with limited staff support and shift into other roles and responsibilities is needed. The ability to add to the positive and upbeat culture of the workplace along with an exceptional work ethic is required. This is not a 9 to 5 job. Early mornings and evening activities are an expected part of the job. This position will be assigned other duties, responsibilities and projects as needed.
Qualifications
A four-year college degree is required, preferably in marketing, business administration, communications, or a related field of study. A Masters degree is desirable. A minimum of 5 years experience in Chamber of Commerce work, membership-based organizations, economic development, or a related field is required. Experience managing & motivating people, growing & servicing a large membership, and planning special events & programs is desirable. This position requires strong leadership and interpersonal skills, high energy and motivation, the ability to work independently, yet foster team spirit, creativity, strong negotiation skills and a focus on community service.
