Dr. Madlyn Hanes Named 2010 Harrisburg Regional Chamber Board Chair and
Chip Brown Named 2010 CREDC Board Chair 

HARRISBURG (January 8, 2010) - The Harrisburg Regional Chamber Board of Directors and the Capital Region Economic Development Corporation (CREDC) Board of Directors announced their 2010 Board Chairs.  Dr. Madlyn Hanes will serve as Chair, Harrisburg Regional Chamber Board of Directors and Chip Brown will serve as Chair, CREDC Board of Directors for 2010.

Dr. Madlyn Hanes is Chancellor of Penn State Harrisburg. Prior to her joining Penn State Harrisburg in 2000, Hanes was chief executive officer of Penn State Great Valley, the graduate campus of Penn State serving southeastern Pennsylvania, and founding head of its School of Graduate Professional Studies.  Hanes holds the rank of Professor and received a B.A. with high honors in English, a M.A. and C.C.C. in speech-language pathology, and Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from the University of Florida.  Dr. Hanes has authored two books, over 40 articles and monographs, and 60 technical reports to sponsors of funded or commissioned projects. She has presented more than 300 papers and invited addresses. Hanes has served as a consultant to international ministries of education and boards of higher education in Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Israel and Korea, including a special appointment to the University Council of Jamaica by the Prime Minister.

After graduating with an engineering degree from Penn State and a spending a few years in the general contracting business Chip Brown joined McClure Company in 1984 as a project engineer. Since then, Chip has been actively involved with many aspects of the mechanical contracting and engineering industry at McClure Company. Chip was named president of McClure Company in 2001.  He is a Past President of the Central PA chapter of ASHRAE, Chairman of the Middle Paxton Township Planning Commission, serves on the Pinnacle Health Foundation Board of Directors and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania. He lives in Fishing Creek Valley with his wife Cyndi and their two children.

Dr. Madlyn Hanes stated, "The Harrisburg Regional Chamber is a strong advocate for the business community and an excellent steward of the quality of life and economic vitality of the region.  Its work on behalf of the membership contributes substantially to the overall well being and stability that both defines the region and positions it favorably for growth in a recovering economy.   I feel fortunate to serve such a dynamic organization and look forward to working with the Chamber leadership and staff, and colleague board members."
