Business Women's Forum

Not sure about the power of the purse?  Over 85% of retail purchases made in the United States today are made by women.

HARRISBURG (March 16, 2009)  --The Greater Carlisle Area Chamber of Commerce, Harrisburg Regional Chamber and the West Shore Chamber of Commerce have announced the 15th  annual Business Women's Forum to be held on Thursday, April 2nd, 2009.  The event will take place at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.  In addition to the three hosting Chambers, this event is supported by Gettysburg Adams Area, Greater Chambersburg, Hanover Area, Lebanon Valley, Mechanicsburg, Shippensburg Area, and York County Chambers of Commerce.

This one-day annual event combines inspirational speakers, business exhibits and breakout sessions on professional topics such as effective communication, time management, mentoring, women in politics and leadership.  It will not only assist women in developing their professional skills and business contacts, but will also promote personal growth through tremendous networking opportunities.  This year the event is on par to attract over 1,000 attendees and nearly 200 vendors.

The Business Women's Forum Steering Committee is proud to announce internationally recognized speaker Vicki Hitzges as the keynote luncheon speaker for the event.  Vicki started out as a reporter and interviewer. The National Press Club recognized her reporting ability with its prestigious Headliner Award.  From the world of TV, Vicki headed into public relations. One of her clients was America's foremost motivational teacher, Zig Ziglar. Zig admired Vicki's creativity and invited her to be one of the few speakers he has personally  mentored. Since making the transition into public speaking, Vicki has achieved numerous milestones. She was the first female speaker ever invited to address the California Business Leadership Summit. The following year she was invited back as a special guest to meet the second female speaker, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. She's spoken to enthusiastic audiences across the United States as well as in Canada, Thailand, Panama and New Zealand.

The mission of the Business Women's Forum is to provide opportunities for business women of all professional levels to network and create business contacts and develop additional leadership skills in a motivational and supportive environment.

Some of the event's sponsors this year include Members 1st Federal Credit Union, WHP CBS21, Carlisle Regional Medical Center, ClearChannel, Susquehanna Bank, Holy Spirit Health System, L.B. Ford Lincoln Mercury Inc., PNC Bank, Triangle Communications, Unique Limousine, Capital BlueCross, Central Penn Business Journal, Highmark Blue Shield, Rhoads & Sinon LLP, and Waveline Direct.
