The Harrisburg Regional Chamber and CREDC Provides Economic Development Assistance to RBS Fab Inc.
HARRISBURG, PA (May 19, 2008) – The Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC (HRC/CREDC) announced today that it provided financing to RBS Fab Inc. to purchase new equipment needed for fabrication operations at 230 North Hoernerstown Road, South Hanover Township, Hummelstown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
RBS Fab is a family owned and operated business, started by the late Robert Smith over 60 years ago. Terry Smith, Robert’s son, and Jo Ann Smith, Robert’s wife, currently run the business and believe that updating their machinery, starting with this purchase, will increase production and the company’s ability to compete in a cost effective manner while also helping RBS Fab meet existing orders.
“As the backbone of our economy, small businesses like RBS Fab deserve to be preserved, protected and expanded,” said Commissioner Nick DiFrancesco. “This company is carrying on a proud family tradition, providing the area with a high-quality product and family-sustaining jobs. As the Chamber and county realize, investing in equipment now promises to pay big dividends in the future.”
RBS Fab, Inc. is a full-service Die and Metal Fabrication operation. RBS has earned a solid reputation for close tolerance precision work. RBS Fab provides machining, welding, electronic assembling and powder coat painting or black oxidizing using equipment and expertise that can guarantee precision production results that will meet the strictest of tolerances.
HRC/CREDC provided a Small Business First (SBF) loan of $152,662 in conjunction with Fulton Bank financing and equity contributions. Total project costs were $337,639, and this project will help retain 15 jobs and create an additional 3 full-time jobs within three years. The SBF loan program is designed to stimulate the expansion and assist in the retention of small business for the purpose of creating new jobs and retaining existing jobs in Pennsylvania. This important program is administered by the Commonwealth’s Department of Community and Economic Development and is funded with the ongoing support of the Administration and the General Assembly.
