CREDC Campaign reaches 25% of Goal as it Breaks the $1 Million Mark

Campaign on pace to hit $4 million goal

HARRISBURG (May 14, 2008 ) -- CREDC Campaign Co-Chairs Jennifer Delaye, President & CEO of JDK Catering, Inc., and Bub Manning, Principal with The Quandel Group, Inc., announced today that the 2008 CREDC Campaign has reached a significant milestone with over $1,017,000 pledged, to date, toward the organization’s goal of $4 Million.

Delaye stated, “We are on track, and perhaps a little ahead of schedule, in our efforts to receive pledges for financial assistance in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. We started our public campaign early in order to accommodate advance budget preparation by both former and new donors to our campaign, knowing that many private sector budgets do not take form until the third or fourth quarter of the year. It appears, at this point, to have been the right direction to start this campaign.”

Manning added, “The other very good thing we have noticed is the number of new firms that did not contribute in the 2004 Campaign that have stepped up to the table. We have seen increases both from prior donors and significant participation from local firms who are first time contributors. We attribute that to the story of CREDC’s successes, as well as the numbers we have been able to present to make our case. $231 Million, nearly a quarter of a billion dollars in economic impact and over 10,500 jobs created and retained over the past 7 years are impressive by any standard and speak well to the use of dollars generously donated to CREDC.”

Delaye added, “Those figures that Bub cited represents a 68:1 return on investment. Each dollar contributed to CREDC, over the past seven years, has returned $68 in economic impact for the region we serve, Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry Counties. It has been heartwarming to see the results so far ranging from contributions of several hundred thousand dollars to several hundred dollars. Local businesses and individuals are really stepping up to the challenge.”

Manning also noted, “Part of the early success is due to the enthusiastic group of volunteers we have that are talking with potential contributors and sharing with them the success of CREDC over the past few years and the goals for the next four years. I think these folks will tell you that it is a relatively easy ask when you have an outstanding and beneficial service like those CREDC offers that nearly sell themselves. Further, I can’t say enough about the quality of the staff at CREDC and the positive comments we get back from clients that come through the doors for low interest financing.”

CREDC, the economic development arm of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber, kicked off its 2008 Campaign at their Annual Dinner on March 20 th with an aggressive goal of $4 Million dollars to be pledged in 2008 and paid in subsequent years 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. The funds are used for the organization’s Business Diversity Initiative, to help support the Murata Business Center in Carlisle- the region’s business incubator, to market the region and the organization, to support required match of state programs including the Keystone Innovation Zone and to start a CREDC Endowment.
